LATEST NEWS & EVENTS AT COOKWORTHY MUSEUM

ALL THE FUN OF THE FAIR

25 MARCH – 31 OCTOBER

All the Fun of the Fair’ is our latest exhibition, celebrating 50 years of Kingsbridge Fair Week.

The ‘Choosing’ of the Fair Queen occurs annually. This year marks 50 years since Fair Week was relaunched in its present form. Above is a front page picture from the Kingsbridge Gazette, showing the six finalists for Fair Queen in 1969. We know who you are ladies – do you recognise yourself or anyone else?

THE NEW JACKET

25 MARCH – 31 OCTOBER

This jacket is a modern recreation of the type of jacket worn by Quakers, including William Cookworthy in his famous portrait.

We can now use this jacket for displays and also for events once the exhibition ends. The jacket was made by seamstress Mary McLellan, who has made costumes for theatrical and historical productions using appropriate materials.

It is now available to view in the ILBERT ROOM.
