EXHIBITION – ON THE ROCKS

The exciting and interesting photographic exhibition on local shipwrecks, fishermen, salty sea-dogs, the coast and the dangers that lurk there, lifeboats and the men who rescued imperilled sailors and travellers – ‘On The Rocks’ – is on display in the Duncombe Room.

EXHIBITION – SIX WEEKS TO GO

Our new exhibition is about life in the South Hams during World War II as American troops evacuated whole villages – including Slapton and Blackawton – to enable them to partake in D-Day preparations. In the Lorenz Room.

FAMILY DAY – 13 APRIL

Children’s activities, craft demonstrations, refreshments, circus skills workshop with special guest Flotsam the Fool in our lovely walled garden. FREE entry for children and only £1.00 for adults.

ILLUSTRATED TALK – 22 APRIL

“Wreck and Rescue on the South Hams Coast” – an illustrated talk by Roger Barrett, curator of the Salcombe Maritime Museum. At Dodbrooke Hall, 7.00pm on Saturday 22 April. Tickets £5.00 each.

BBQ & MUSIC EVENING – 10 JUNE

Come and enjoy a BBQ & music evening with live music from Rhillig. Locally-sourced food and drink (Barrel & Still, Salcombe Brewery, Lloyd Maunder). Tickets £10 each (includes entry & food). Cash Bar. 6.00pm on Saturday 10 June.

LANTERN WORKSHOPS

Unfortunately we will not be running our lantern workshops at the Museum this year – but all the lanterns made elsewhere in town will be on display in the Kingsbridge Fair Week Lantern Parade on the evening of Wednesday 19 July.

DOWN ON THE FARM – SPECIAL DAYS (JULY & AUGUST)

Learn about farming practices of yesteryear. Every Tuesday (10.30am-1.00pm) and Wednesday (1.00pm-3.30pm) throughout July and August. With a FREE mouse for children!

CREAM TEA IN THE MUSEUM GARDEN – 26 JULY

In partnership with the National Trust. In the Museum Garden. 2.30pm-4.00pm on Wednesday 26 July. Tickets £6.00 each to include cream tea and museum entry.

MUSEUM AT THE SHOW – 2 SEPTEMBER

The Museum will be appearing at this year’s Kingsbridge Show with a display in the Country Scene tent. Come and see us!

FIENDISH QUIZ & PASTY SUPPER – 27 OCTOBER

A fun evening with a challenging walkabout quiz on Friday 27 October at 7.00pm. Tickets are £12.50 each, which includes quiz, pasty (veggie option available) and your first drink. Max. team size 6. Tickets must be purchased in advance from the Museum before 19 October.

KINGSBRIDGE CELEBRATES CHRISTMAS – 2 DECEMBER

The Museum will be open from 10.00am. Get into the Christmas spirit and come along to do some last-minute (or not so last-minute) shopping for your Christmas stocking, for your family or for something for under the tree! FREE ENTRY to all.
